The Sabbath Day is a delight

I love Sundays

I have always enjoyed Sunday's, but here in Africa each one is a special experience for me.  I have decided to add a new label titled "The Sabbath is a delight."  This way I can record my special Sunday moments and file them for quick access.  Today, I will just try to play catch up.

Kania Home Group - October 13, 2024

Kania Home Group is one of the 3 groups that is in our area.  It is under the direction of the Branch President Fabba, of the Kapete Branch.  About a month or so I wrote of a service project we participated in with the missionaries to pour cement in a new addition to the school in which our home group meets in.  The new addition has been used now for our chapel on Sunday.  This past Sunday, Fred and I had the chance to attend the church meetings there.  What a humbling experience in many ways.

    1.  The room was filled to capacity.  A month ago there were around 30 that were attending.  This day there were 60+, with 3 baptism confirmations.  Here we were sitting on primary school benches, no electrical wiring for lights or fans, no podium, no windows, just a modest dwelling for members coming to partake of the sacrament.  The group is growing.  We are looking for another place for them to meet at this point.  In truth, the mission is working on creating a District in the Kono area.  This is a very exciting time for this area.

  2.  There is no one to play a piano nor would there be the electricity to play a keyboard.  For prelude music the chorister leads the congregation in hymns.  The chorister sings the first few lines themselves to mock the melody, then they all join in singing all the verses, then they move to another song.

  3.  Our 4th grandchild was blessed on this day.  It is very hard to miss such special family moments so I was feeling a bit down.  I had decided earlier in the week that I would help in Primary each Sunday so I came to church prepared....well kind of!  I wasn't prepared that the children had never split into a primary class.  They had always just stayed with the adults.  Sad really!  So I told them we would be holding primary and away I took the children.  Elder Stringham was close by to assist.  We had a great time singing songs in Sharing time, then we rearranged to benches to a classroom setting and we had our Sunday lesson.  The children were enthralled in all of the primary sessions.  They loved singing and learning new songs and gospel teachings.  Truth is, I was more filled spiritually then they were.  It helped fill the void of missing our grandson's blessing.

Kania home group is growing rapidly.
